You could say “I know...it certainly is good news Isn’t it? The best part is that because of Jesus sacrifice, there’s no reason I shouldn’t be part of it too... just as I am! Looks like it’s a way off yet though, since instead of turning on religion as predicted, Donald Trump declared churches to be “essential services”? Im sure that includes yours too!

Looking for suggestions, I'm being called on by a JW
by Tameria2001 injust before the pandemic affected my area, a couple of jws came to my door.
this was the first time i didn't tell them to hit the road but instead had a pleasant conversation with them.
i never revealed that i am a former jw, nor do i ever want the jws in my area to know that i was ever one.

It occurred to me as I read the words above that if there really are such things as angels, we don't know what their history is/was and what their "kind" went through before humans were "created". We assume a lot about them simply because the Bible doesn't give us much detail about angels. Maybe God had just as many problems with them in their beginning as he did with humans. Apart from our own history according to the Bible, we don't know what his track records in terms of success with his creations. Look at Satan (if he exists) and what he and his demons were capable of doing even thought they were right there in "heaven" with God. Why do we assume that all is well with heavenly creatures and that we are the only ones in the universe with problems?

I thought according to JW's, the Government would be turning on Religions in the last days. In this case, it is calling it "essential and encouraging religion services to resume. Of course we know it is election time so I'm sure Mr. T is wanting the churchgoers on his side come voting time.

don`t the powers that be ever really investigate religions that claim exemption from paying taxes because they claim they are a not for profit religion ?.
you would have to be a brain dead imbecile not to see that the religion known as the" watchtower bible and tract society" otherwise known as "jehovah`s witnesses" are nothing more than a religious publishing house that have made x amount of $$$$$ over the years since their inception in the late 1800`s to this day.

You pay taxes if your activity is business related. JWs are mostly giving away litterature and videosThat's why a number of years ago they went to the "contribution or donation" method when JW"s get the literature at the Hall. They said this was a loving simplification to make things easier for the brothers but in reality it was because the Feds found out they were selling the literature to the publishers in the Kingdom Hall without collecting the required sales tax. They aren't giving anything away in fact I believe they found that they wound up collecting more money this way because the "brothers" ended up shelling out more when they donated than they would have if they had paid directly. Thus evidence of Jehovah's approval of the new arrangement.

After wondering where they got the Iron Ore to make the steel and how he even knew what steel was made from, Adam's first thought after seeing the spinning sword was "boy...one of those thingies would sure make shaving and haircuts easier".
Eve first thought was " I could slice a whole lot of apples if I had one of those".

Repercussions for sexual immorality
by Veryconflicted inhello, i was hoping to get some clarification about how people are disciplined for immorality as a jw.
i became involved with a co-worker a few years ago, she was fairly aggressive and she initiated a physical relationship very quickly.
at the time i did not know she was married and a jw.

I think the biggest issue here is why, after all she's done to you and others, you'd still think she's worth pursuing.
If I told you that I was in love with a woman who is cheating on her husband to be with me and was also sleeping other men besides me, was lying to her family and was going from door to door preaching the Bible to people the whole time, you'd think I was crazy. You'd wonder why I was being so pathetic.
You say you feel guilty and would like to apologize to her husband and are worried about what you might say when you see her again especially if she is with her family members lest you her into trouble with her church. I think the reality is that on some level you hope this is exactly what happens so that you can (understandably) get back at her for what she's done to you. If you truly felt guilty about this relationship, you'd want nothing more to do with her. You'd be thanking your lucky stars that you were free of this horrible person. It's as simple as that.
You need to talk to a professional about this and find out why your self worth is so low that you'd allow yourself to be treated this way and to find out why you'd want to continue a relationship with someone who is so dishonest and mixed up.

There was a 40 something guy who moved in to our territory and told everyone he was from Alaska and had gotten a job locally. He took up with a 40 something Sister who had never married. They were soon engaged but the Sister's family were suspicious of him because pieces of his story didn't jive and he seem just a little too good to be true. They had him checked out and just in time, they found out that he was DF'd and was still married and had kids.
Between the internet and the smallness of the JW world, I think any DF'd person trying to pass themselves off as someone else, would soon be found out.

Craziest thing you ever saw in a KH?

for me it was watching a brother have a heart attack during the meeting in the auditorium.
i was a kid and noticed him shaking and acting strange.

The fidgety and bored young son of the guest speaker was sitting in front of us during the Sunday meeting and kept asking his Mother if he could go to the bathroom. She suspected he was just trying to break up the boredom and scornfully kept refusing him but eventually relented to let him go.
After a good period of time passed, the mother began looking back angrily to see what was taking him so long. Finally she went back to find him and in a few moments, dragged him back down the aisle by the collar and flung him into his seat where he sat sobbing and sniffling.
Suddenly it became apparent to everyone around him that all of his dark hair had been chopped off and you could see white patches of his bare skull through what was left of it. Apparently he had found a pair of scissors in the bathroom and given himself a haircut.

An old Sister had been studying with a little boy she found out in the door to door ministry. His mother wasn't interested but finally agreed to let the Sister bring the boy to the Sunday meeting. During the meeting, someone through a stone through the window that was above the seat he was sitting in and glass showered down on him cutting his cheek and ear. The old Sister had to take him home and explain what had happened. Needless to say, the study was ended.

My beautiful but slightly absent minded Mother used to play the Piano for our meetings so we always had to be there in time. One Thursday she was running late an in her haste to get out the door, put her coat on right over her slip instead of putting on her dress first.
The meeting had just begun when we got to the Hall, so she rushed up the aisle and sat down at the piano and began taking off her coat. Luckily when she felt the cold air on her shoulders she realized what had happened and quickly covered up and only a few people noticed. Us kids never let her live that one down though.
